California

The Golden State is aptly named when it comes to producing wine grapes of high quality.  Not because we grow Golden Chalus by the truck load, but because of the well suited growing regions that are a result of soil composition, temperature, sun exposure and... je ne sais quoi.  If you add that up you get terroir.  And California is still in the process of defining its terroirs by producing interesting wines from different places.
