Cayalla RTW red table wine 2004

The Cayalla RTW (red table wine) from the south west part of Washington. This wine has fruit from north east Oregon as well, and over-delivers in several ways.  The blend has Cab Franc, Cab Sav., Merlot and Syrah, and it has 5+ years of bottle age on it.  These two factors combine nicely to reveal a very well put together wine that has aged wonderfully.  I’d estimate that it is close to its peak, so get to opening this one sometime in the next year.

NOTES: Crushed raspberries and black cherries on the nose, with lifted savory fruits, herb tinges and a nice underlying earthiness.  The palate on this wine tells the tale of a very well integrated wine that shows nice, blunted, medium chain, woody tannins that are in perfect harmony with the acidity.  It is a medium bodied wine that has savory candied rhubarb and blue fruits that are accented by a touch of chocolate/coco up front and tarry earth in the mid palate.  Get to opening this wine sooner rather than later, you won’t be disappointed!
