Boroli ‘Anna’ 2008, Langhe, Italy

This is one of the single greatest opportunities to drink Nebbiolo from the Langhe region without paying Barolo prices.  If this were classified as a Barolo, it would literally cost 3 or 4 times as much.  While it has Barbera and Merlot in the blend, the profile is predominately Nebbiolo.

NOTES: The wine has a brickish hue (orange rim) and a rose petal nose, which scream Barolo.  It is pretty classic for Nebbiolo coming from this region.

It has a soft palate, and shows both the Nebbiolo fruit and Langhe region’s virtues.  The tannins are a little bit short chain, but it has dark minerality, intertwined with dark fruits; black cherries and cassis.  Being a wine from the 2006 vintage, it shows a little bit of bottle bouquet in the form of increased elegance.  You can drink this wine now, or wait 1-2 years.  It already has a little age on it, so feel free to enjoy.
